On 5 November 2026 Celestia asked operators on its Mocha testnet to upgrade both their consensus nodes and their Fibre servers to celestia-app v10.6.0-mocha "as soon as possible". The notice gives no hard deadline.
What is in the release
According to Celestia's notice:
- Consensus layer: celestia-core moves from v0.42.5 to v0.42.8. The new version fixes block propagation, the CAT mempool, p2p peer identity validation and the JSON-RPC server.
tx_searchandblock_searchnow applymax_search_resultsto the whole query. - Proofs: ShareProof and RowProof verification now checks each proof's position in the data square. Clients that verify proofs, such as celestia-node, should use this release's packages.
- Fibre: escrow deposit transactions with a non-canonical signer address or a denomination other than utia are now kept out of the mempool and new proposals. Blocks that already contain such transactions stay valid. Other fixes cover the payment promise cache and a client crash on incomplete provider responses.
- Hyperlane and IBC: hyperlane-cosmos is bumped to v1.3.3, which tightens signature and routing checks. The IBC capability module moves to a fork that is safe for concurrent use.
What it means for operators
Mocha validators and other consensus node operators should install v10.6.0-mocha and restart consensus nodes and Fibre. Celestia's docs now list v10.6.0-mocha as Mocha's celestia-app version, alongside celestia-node v0.34.4-mocha.
Celestia usually ships releases to Mocha before mainnet. The v10.4.0 and v10.5.0 releases, for example, reached Mocha first and mainnet within days. The 5 November notice does not announce a mainnet release of v10.6.0, and Celestia's mainnet docs still list v10.5.0.
Related: on 31 October Celestia's status page told operators on both Mocha and mainnet to apply two kernel settings (disabling MPTCP and tcp_migrate_req) and then restart all nodes, to mitigate a TCP vulnerability.
