Aztec vote on ending checkpoint rewards for investor and employee ATP sequencers opens 9 November

Aztec governance proposal #6, ZeroRegistryRewardsPayload, was submitted on 6 November 2026 after sequencers signalled for it. Voting opens at 09:02 UTC on 9 November. If passed and executed, sequencers in the investor and employee ATP registries would lose checkpoint rewards.

Aztec governance proposal #6, titled ZeroRegistryRewardsPayload, was submitted at 09:02 UTC on 6 November 2026 by the governance proposer contract after sequencers' signals for it reached quorum. Voting opens at 09:02 UTC on 9 November 2026. If it passes and is executed, sequencers staked through the investor and employee Aztec Token Position (ATP) registries would stop receiving sequencer checkpoint rewards.

BitBasic first covered this change when the payload was deployed on 2 November: Aztec proposal would end checkpoint rewards for investor and employee ATP sequencers.

What the proposal does

According to the forum post that introduced it, the payload at 0x8e1ae43beC950Ea0E02F2Ed43101797c5A8dbfCD sets the sequencer checkpoint reward to zero for two registries:

  • the investor ATP registry, 0x667d2641cb96734f386adA6A9afCF07B1815fB8b
  • the employee ATP registry, 0xD938bE4A2cB41105Bc2FbE707dca124A2e5d0c80

Aztec Labs said on the forum that it checked the deployed payload against the published source code. It added that its check was not a recommendation to signal or vote either way. Proposal #6 on-chain runs payload contract 0x340d8f93c874f59d0e49400cb7a9aff31eed5e71.

Timeline and thresholds

  • Submitted: 6 November 2026, 09:02 UTC.
  • Voting opens: 9 November 2026, 09:02 UTC.
  • Voting closes: the proposal page does not give a closing time. The previous proposal, #5 (the v6 upgrade), was submitted on 14 October, opened for voting on 17 October and closed on 24 October, a seven-day vote. If #6 follows the same schedule, voting would close around 16 November.
  • Quorum: at least 20% of voting power, and at least 100M AZTEC, must vote.
  • Margin: Yea must beat Nay by more than 33% of the votes cast.
  • Execution: after a vote passes, there is a two-day wait, then the proposal can be executed during a seven-day window.

No votes had been cast when this was written. For comparison, proposal #5 passed with 627M AZTEC voting Yea and none voting Nay.

What it means

  • Sequencers staked from the investor or employee ATP registries, and anyone delegating to them: if the proposal passes and is executed, these sequencers would earn no checkpoint rewards. The original forum post says they would still earn transaction fees.
  • All other sequencers and their delegators: their checkpoint reward is unchanged.
  • AZTEC holders with voting power: the vote opens on 9 November.

Proposal details and the vote count are on BitBasic's proposal #6 page. The sequencer set is on the Aztec dashboard.
