Celestia decentralisation report, November 2026

In progress · readings on 0 of 6 days so far · dates in UTC

Summary In progress

The current month: figures to date, updated every hour.

BitBasic has no readings for Celestia yet this month. It records the figures every hour, and this report fills in from the first reading.

How this report is made

Every hour, BitBasic takes Celestia's current set of active validators from the data it collects and works out the figures; the last reading of each day is kept as that day's figures. Days and months are in UTC.

Each figure's value is the month's last daily reading; the range is its lowest and highest daily value, and the change compares it with the last reading of the month before. A month is partial when some of its days have no reading, for example before BitBasic began recording Celestia, and the summary lists the days that are missing. The current month is in progress and changes every day; shortly after a month ends it is closed and its report is kept as it was.

Stake figures count each active validator's stake, its own plus delegated, as BitBasic last read it; stake outside the active set doesn't count. The Nakamoto coefficient is the smallest number of the largest holders that together have more than a third, because a third is enough to stall a proof-of-stake network; exactly a third is not counted as more.

Active validators
In the active set: signs and proposes blocks, and earns rewards.
Nakamoto coefficient (stake)
The smallest number of validators that together hold more than a third of the active stake: enough to stall the network if they colluded. Higher is more decentralised.
Top 10 stake share
The share of the active stake held by the ten largest validators.
HHI (stake)
The Herfindahl–Hirschman index: every validator's percentage share of the active stake, squared and added up. It runs from near 0 (stake spread thinly) to 10,000 (one validator holds it all); n validators with equal stakes score 10,000 ÷ n. Lower is more decentralised.
