Description

GGP-0057: Delegation of Chain Integration & Deprecation Authority to The Graph Foundation (with TAB Approval Requirement)

Summary Delegate responsibility for approving new chain integrations (indexing rewards) and deprecating chains to The Graph Foundation, contingent upon receiving approval from the Technical Advisory Board (TAB). This change is intended to streamline operations while maintaining technical oversight. The Council retains override authority.

Motivation The current process requires the Council to vote via Snapshot on every chain integration and deprecation, creating delays and inefficiencies. Given the technical nature of these decisions, involving metrics such as usage, subgraph activity, and infrastructure readiness, the TAB is well-positioned to assess suitability. However, due to the critical nature of these decisions-impacting the allocation of issuance - ultimate authority should rest with a trusted, accountable entity embedded in the ecosystem: The Graph Foundation.

This structure ensures: Speed and operational flexibility via Foundation execution

Technical rigor via required TAB endorsement

Accountability and oversight via public transparency and Council override

Proposal Authority Transfer: The Graph Foundation receives the authority to approve or remove chains from indexing rewards. This authority is contingent on a formal affirmative vote or endorsement by the Technical Advisory Board (TAB).

Transparency Requirements: All decisions must be publicly posted on the Graph Forum under: General > Ecosystem Updates > Indexer Each post must include a rationale, metrics used in evaluation, and the effective date of the change.

Council Override: The Council may overturn any Foundation decision via a standard council vote.

Voting Options FOR: Delegate integration/deprecation authority to The Graph Foundation, contingent on TAB approval, under the terms outlined above. AGAINST: Retain the current process requiring Council votes for all changes.
