Casper network: Era #24,393 · Healthy

Summary In progress

The current month: figures to date, updated every hour.

As of October 30, it took the 4 largest validators to hold more than a third of Casper's active stake (a Nakamoto coefficient of 4).

  • The 10 largest validators held 61.3% of the stake.
  • Overall the stake was as spread out as 20 equal stakes (an HHI of 505).
  • 70 validators were active.
  • BitBasic began recording Casper on October 30, so there is no earlier month to compare with.
  • The month is still in progress: the figures are to October 30 and change daily until the report closes on November 1.

How stake is spread

Stake of the active validators, their own plus delegated. Each value is the month's last reading, with the month's range and the change since the end of September 2026; the line shows each day.

Active validators
In this era's validator set: signs blocks and earns rewards.
70
Steady so far
Nakamoto coefficient
The smallest number of validators that together hold more than a third of the active stake: enough to stall the network if they colluded. Higher is more decentralised.
4

Top 10 stake share
The share of the active stake held by the ten largest validators.
61.3%
Steady so far
HHI
The Herfindahl–Hirschman index: every validator's percentage share of the active stake, squared and added up. It runs from near 0 (stake spread thinly) to 10,000 (one validator holds it all); n validators with equal stakes score 10,000 ÷ n. Lower is more decentralised.

How this report is made

Every hour, BitBasic takes Casper's current set of active validators from the data it collects and works out the figures; the last reading of each day is kept as that day's figures. Days and months are in UTC.

Each figure's value is the month's last daily reading; the range is its lowest and highest daily value, and the change compares it with the last reading of the month before. A month is partial when some of its days have no reading, for example before BitBasic began recording Casper, and the summary lists the days that are missing. The current month is in progress and changes every day; shortly after a month ends it is closed and its report is kept as it was.

Stake figures count each active validator's stake, its own plus delegated, as BitBasic last read it; stake outside the active set doesn't count. The Nakamoto coefficient is the smallest number of the largest holders that together have more than a third, because a third is enough to stall a proof-of-stake network; exactly a third is not counted as more.
