# The Graph voids POI disputes on seven Polygon and BNB Chain Subgraphs during a restore test

A notice on The Graph's forum on 29 October 2026 says Indexers syncing seven named Polygon and BNB Smart Chain Subgraphs cannot be disputed over their proofs of indexing while graph-node's experimental dump and restore is used to speed up syncing.

A notice posted on 29 October 2026 in the Governance & GIPs section of The Graph's forum says proof-of-indexing (POI) disputes are void for seven Subgraphs on Polygon and BNB Smart Chain. Indexers syncing those Subgraphs are immune from disputes if discrepancies show up in their POIs.

## Why

The notice ties this to the move of Polygon and BNB Smart Chain Subgraphs from Subgraph Studio onto The Graph Network, which BitBasic covered earlier (https://bitbasic.com/news/4-the-graph-moves-bnb-smart-chain-and-polygon-studio-query-traffic-onto-the). Some of these Subgraphs would take days, weeks or months to sync from scratch. To help Indexers reach chain head faster, they will be synced using `graphman dump` and `graphman restore`, experimental graph-node features introduced in v0.42.0. The notice calls this the first production test of dump and restore, and voids disputes on the affected Subgraphs for that reason.

## What it means

- **Indexers** can allocate to these Subgraphs and use the restored data without the risk of a POI dispute, and the slashing that can follow one, if the restored state turns out to differ. The immunity covers only the seven deployments listed. Other Subgraphs are disputable as usual.
- **Fishermen** should not file POI disputes on these deployments, because the notice says they would be void.
- **Delegators** are exposed to an Indexer's disputes through its stake. For these Subgraphs that risk is removed. Delegators may still want to check that their Indexer serves queries on the Subgraphs it allocates to.

The notice does not say when the immunity ends.
