Celestia's v10 upgrade went live on mainnet on 20 October 2026. Celestia's status page posted the notice that day ("V10 is live"), and it opened the way for validators to set up Fibre servers. Fibre is a new data protocol that lets rollups upload large blobs directly to validators, rather than only through Celestia's standard data availability path.

## What changed

- **v10 is the current mainnet software line.** Two follow-up mainnet releases came soon after: celestia-app v10.5.0 on 22 October and celestia-node v0.34.4 on 28 October. Celestia's mainnet docs now list these versions.
- **Fibre servers.** The 20 October notice told validators: "Now that v10 is live, you can start setting up your Fibre servers." It lists the prerequisites. The CPU must pass Celestia's CPU tests, the machine needs 32 GB of RAM, Fibre connects to the validator's signer over mutual TLS, the node's application gRPC and the validator's privval gRPC endpoints must be enabled, and the Fibre port (7980 by default) must be reachable.
- **Placement.** Celestia recommends running Fibre on a separate machine from the validator. Object storage should sit close to the Fibre server, because a remote bucket in another region can add seconds of latency and cause missed endorsements.
- **Registration.** A validator records its Fibre server's address on chain with a transaction from its operator key, as described in the celestia-app registry specification.

## Where the validator set stands

BitBasic's Celestia dashboard showed this on 6 November 2026: 75 of 98 active validators have a Fibre server registered on chain, and together they hold 88.0% of active stake. The other 23 active validators had not yet registered one. Celestia's 20 October notice sets no deadline and names no penalty for validators without a Fibre server.

## What it means

- **Validators:** if you have not set up and registered a Fibre server yet, follow Celestia's Fibre guide. Keep consensus nodes and Fibre on the latest mainnet releases.
- **Delegators:** you can check on the BitBasic Celestia dashboard whether your validator is among those with a Fibre server registered.

Celestia had already run v10 and Fibre on its Mocha testnet, where activation was announced on 24 September.
